The Centre on Wednesday assured protesting wrestlers that the police investigation will be completed by June 15 and asked them not to stage protests until then.
This came after ace wrestlers Sakshee Malikhh and Bajrang Punia met Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur at the latter’s residence earlier in the day after the former called them for talks amidst the ongoing demand of arresting Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
Talking to media persons after the meeting, athlete Bajrang Punia said “We had a discussion on some issues. Police investigation should be completed by 15th June and the minister has requested us not to hold protests until then.”
The wrestler said they asked the union minister to withdraw all the FIRs filed against wrestlers who have been protesting against WFI chief and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Brij Bhushan.
