New Delhi: A large number of world leaders, including those from France, the UK, and the Maldives, congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday for the inauguration of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for the Environment), which aims to facilitate the transition to sustainability.
French President Emmanuel Macron began his video greeting by addressing the Prime Minister as “Dear Narendra,” adding that he is looking forward to cooperating with India while it has the G20 chair in 2019.

“Namaste, Mr. Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra, colleagues, and friends. I wish I could be in Kevadia with you at this unique time. We are forced to choose between cooperation and separation for a single region at a time when geopolitical tensions around the world are rising. Nobody can tackle societal issues, including climate change, on their own, said Macron.
India will take over Indonesia’s one-year G20 leadership on December 1st. The G20 is an intergovernmental conference made up of 19 nations plus the EU.
The French president said, “France looks forward to cooperating with India to make this project a success, including in the context of the Indian chairmanship of the G20 next year.”
Liz Truss, the prime minister of the United Kingdom, also congratulated her in a video greeting.
“As democracies, we must cooperate to ensure energy security and safeguard economies. Together with partners like India, we are making investments to build crucial climate infrastructure. I applaud India’s initiative in creating Mission LiFE; let’s continue to set the example, she remarked.
The G20 organisation was established in 1999 to address global concerns like the global economy, reducing global warming, and sustainable development.
PM Modi’s Mission LiFE, according to President of the Maldives Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, could not have arrived at a more vital time as “the adverse repercussions of the climate crisis strike up upon the countries with full force.”
Kaja Kallas, the prime minister of Estonia, thanked PM Modi for announcing Mission LiFE in a message and stressed the urgency of a coordinated effort to combat climate change.
