With the rising electricity bills, many people are installing solar panels on their homes regardless of the season. The Indian government subsidizes it under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana.
Minimum Solar Panel Capacity
One kW or a minimum solar panel of 1 kW can be installed under this scheme.
Amount Of Subsidy
1. The government provides subsidies to consumers based on the capacity of the solar panels installed.
2. Up to ₹30,000 for a 1-kilowatt system.
3. ₹60,000 for 2kW installations.
4. For a solar PV system of 3kW and above, a subsidy of ₹78,000 is applicable.
How To Claim The Benefits Provided By The PM Surya Ghar Yojana
1. To apply under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana:
2. Visit the official website: pmsuryaghar.gov.in.
3. On reaching the homepage, click on “Apply for Rooftop Solar.”
4. Complete the registration process by entering details such as your state, electricity distribution company, consumer number, mobile number, and email address.
5. Once you are done registering, log in with your consumer and mobile number.
6. Fill in the rooftop solar application and submit the supporting documents.
7. Wait for approval from your electricity board.
8. Once your installation is approved, you can hire any authorized vendor for solar panel installations and apply for a net meter.
9. The electricity company will inspect your installation and provide you with a certificate.
Your subsidy will arrive within 30 days after that is done. Besides the dignity of contributing to reducing electricity bills, this initiative will promote the revival of renewable energy in India.
