She drew parallels with Kasturba Gandhi, who stood by Mahatma Gandhi in the struggle for India’s freedom. Matangini Hazra and Kanaklata Barua, among other eminent female freedom fighters, offered the ultimate sacrifice for the motherland. Today, women in India are participating across all fields in the nation’s development. They have shouldered significant responsibilities that were inconceivable a few years ago. She stated, “I want our daughters to progress…”

Addressing the nation, President Murmu highlighted that India has converted challenges into opportunities and achieved impressive GDP growth. Our country is progressing on all fronts. While the world faces economic downturns, India’s ability to confront difficult circumstances is evident. While concerns of inflation persist, the government has adopted effective measures to address them. India is now the world’s fifth-largest economy. The nation is poised to become the third-largest economy. Several schemes have been implemented to assist the needy. Over the last decade, we have succeeded in lifting people out of poverty.
Indigenous communities and nature
President Murmu emphasized the importance of addressing climate change. In recent years, India has experienced both excessive rainfall and drought, revealing the impact of global warming. India has made significant strides in combating this issue. We have provided the world with the ‘Life for Environment’ mantra. The President noted that many indigenous communities remain deeply connected to nature. The relationship between indigenous communities and nature can be summarized in one word – coexistence. Women particularly resonate with this harmony.
