In a shocking incident, a woman was pushed out from a moving train by a drunk passenger in Kerala’ Varkala. The woman sustained serious injuries, news agency PTI reported.
The accused was identified as Suresh Kumar, a resident of Vellarada in Thiruvananthapuram. He has been arrested by the police.
According to police, the incident took place soon after the Kerala Express departed from the Varkala station around 8:30 am.
A senior police officer said that the woman had boarded from Aluva station along with her friend en route to Thiruvananthapuram.
The police officer said the woman was coming out of the washroom when the drunk passenger standing near the compartment’s gate, allegedly pushed her from the moving train.
The victim was taken to hospital where she was later referred to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College and her condition is said to be critical. She sustained severe internal injuries.
The railway protection Force intercepted the accused and headed over to government railway police at Kochuveli station.
“He kicked her out of the train and then tried to pull me down as well, but I managed to escape by hanging onto the handrail at the door before others pulled me up,” PTI quoted the woman’s friend as saying.
