Bengaluru: After a video sparked controversy which showed a Karnataka minister slapping a woman seeking help from him, the victim has denied that she was ever slapped.
“It’s just an allegation against the minister. He consoled and helped me,” said the woman.
While dismissing the claims of being assaulted, the woman said, “I went there to ask for help and requested him to give land. At the same time, I fell on his feet and somebody said that he (Karnataka Minister V Somanna) slapped me.”
V Somanna, the leader of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Minister of Infrastructure Development of Karnataka, was attending an event where he was invited to distribute land titles in Hangala village of Chamarajanagar district.
However, the viral video clearly showed the BJP leader slapping the woman. There is no statement or speculation if the video is morphed.
The video had prompted the reaction of the DCW chairperson Swati Malliwal who demanded strict action against the minister.
