Parliament Winter Session 2024 LIVE: The Winter Session of Parliament began on November 25. Several key bills are set to be discussed, including the Waqf Amendment Bill, the Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill, and the Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill.
The session follows a decisive victory for the NDA in Maharashtra and Haryana, strengthening the government’s position in Parliament.
This confidence is reflected in the government’s call for smooth proceedings, with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh meeting with floor leaders of all parties and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju seeking cooperation to ensure a productive session.
Meanwhile, the opposition, led by the INDIA bloc, will hold a meeting this morning to strategize their approach. Congress leader Pramod Tiwari highlighted critical issues, including the ongoing violence and lawlessness in Manipur, rising unemployment, and increasing pollution in northern India.
Among the key bills, the Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill is likely to draw attention, as it seeks to amend various financial regulations, including the Reserve Bank of India Act and the Banking Regulation Act.
Another significant piece of legislation expected is the Railway Act amendment, as well as the potential introduction of the “One Nation One Election” bill, a long-discussed proposal that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized in recent statements.

The government will also introduce the Bharatiya Vayuyan Vidheyak, 2024, which seeks to regulate the aviation sector, covering everything from aircraft design to import and export.
The Winter Session, which will run until December 20 to discuss the Boilers Bill, the Oilfields (Regulation and Development) Amendment Bill, the Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill, etc.
