Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday said that the state government will demolish madrasas if they find that the institution is used for anti-India activities.
“We don’t have any intention to go on demolishing Madrasas. Only intention to see that they’re not used by jihadi elements. If we get specific inputs that institution is being used under guise of Madrasa for anti-India activities, we will raze them,” news agency ANI quoted Sarma as saying.

The statement comes a day after the Assam government demolished a private madrassa in Bongaigaon district on Wednesday over its alleged use for terror activities.
This was the third private madrasa to be razed last month for alleged connection to terror outfits.
