New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Sunday said that he will continue his protest till Prime Minister Narendra Modi speak on the Manipur issue in the Parliament.
This statement came following the Chairman of Rajya Sabha, Jagdeep Dhankhar suspended him from the rest of the monsoon session for “repeatedly violating directions of the Chair.”
“Why the PM is not ready to address the Manipur violence in the Parliament? The government is not ready to speak on it. I will continue my protest on this issue,” ANI quoted Sanjay Singh as saying.
However, another AAP MP Raghav Chadha said that the suspension is against the spirit of democracy.

Chadha also informed that after the House was adjourned, they went to the chairman and requested him to revoke this suspension.
“It is very unfortunate that Rajya Sabha Chairman suspended Sanjay Singh. This is not right, it is against the spirit of democracy. After the House was adjourned, we went to the Chairman and requested him to revoke this suspension. Even during the BAC meeting, we all walked out as we were not being heard at all. The Chairman should talk to the MPs and have healthy discussions,” said Chadha
The suspension order came following the house was disrupted by the Opposition leaders seeking the response of PM Modi over the violence that erupted in Manipur nearly three months ago.
The motion to ban the AAP leader from the rest of the proceedings was moved by Union Cabinet Minister Piyush Goyal on behalf of the government, which was immediately approved by Rajya Sabha chairperson Dhankar.
After the suspension, the house was adjournment till 2 PM while the Opposition camp sloganeering grew louder in response to the suspension order.
