New Delhi: Northern Army commander Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi on Tuesday said that the Indian Army is ready to execute any order given by the Government of India, like taking back Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

“As far as the Indian Army is concerned, it will carry out any order given by the Government of India. Whenever such orders are given, we will always be ready for it,” Dwivedi said.

“The military is always ready to make sure that the ceasefire understanding is never broken as it is in the interest of both nations, but if broken at any time, we will give them a befitting reply,” news agency ANI quoted Dwivedi as saying.

The top army commander’s remarks comes after Defence Minister Rajnath Singh hinted that parts of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), would be retrieved.

On October 27, the defence minister – at an infantry day function in Srinagar – had said people of PoK are subjected to human rights violations and Pakistan has to pay a price for it.

He also said the Indian government is committed to implementing the 1994 resolution passed in the Parliament about retrieving the part of Kashmir “under illegal occupation of Pakistan”.

A Shift Towards BJP's Aggressive Hindutva Amid Opposition's Leadership Crisis

The Maharashtra election may further push the Congress down as it has lost the election at a time when it needed a win most desperately. Though the Congress succeeded in pushing the BJP to a corner and stopping it at less than a majority on its own, it failed to make any headway further.
