India earned their 13th Olympic medal in hockey, complementing their impressive tally of 8 gold medals. Despite a tough loss to Germany earlier, the team made a remarkable comeback with a valiant performance against Spain.

The match between India and Spain for the Olympic bronze medal was a farewell game for goalkeeper PR Sreejesh, who had announced his retirement after the Olympics. The Indian team honored their former captain with a memorable send-off. India clinched their 13th Olympic hockey medal in Paris, building on their historic record of 8 gold medals. Despite a tough loss to Germany earlier, the team rallied with a heroic performance against Spain.

With the addition of the hockey bronze medal, India’s total medal count at the Paris Olympics rose to 4. This includes two bronze medals won by Manu Bhaker, one with Sarabjot Singh, and another bronze by Swapnil Kusale.

The Indian team has a distinguished Olympic history in hockey, winning their 13th medal with the recent bronze. Their impressive record includes 8 gold medals in 1928, 1932, 1936, 1948, 1952, 1956, 1964, and 1980. Additionally, they secured a silver medal in 1960 and four bronze medals in 1968, 1972, 2020, and now 2024.
