Opposition Meet: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Chief Sharad Pawar on Thursday said he would participate in an Opposition party meeting conveyed by Janta Dal United (JDU) president and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar to bring together opposition parties to take on BJP in 2024 general election.
The meeting will be held on June 23 in Patna, Bihar.
Talking to news Agency ANI, Pawar said, “Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has called a meeting on June 23. He called me up and extended an invitation. He has invited the opposition leaders of the country. I will go there. He has extended the invitation keeping in mind the necessity to work together on a national issue…”
Earlier, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav while interacting with media in Patna informed that almost 15 parties confirmed to attend the meeting.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has not confirmed yet, Tejashvi added.
“…Couldn’t have a word with KCR (Telangana CM) but rest all leaders are coming…almost 15 parties will be attending the meet…from every party, the main leaders are coming not just a representative”.
Earlier on Wednesday, Janta Dal (United) state unit President Lalan Singh confirmed that the meeting will be held in Patna on June 23.
The meeting is an effort to bring together like-minded Opposition parties to defeat Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP in the 2024 general election. Earlier, It was scheduled to be held on June 12 but due to some reason, it will take place on June 23.
