Will the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen join the Congress-led coalition before Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024 is held?
After its leader Asaduddin Owaisi said that the incumbent ruling coalition must go and expressed hope that the BJP-led alliance does not get the people’s mandate, this question has surfaced.
Talking to news agency ANI, the AIMIM Chief said that his party had declared five candidates for Maharashtra Elections as it has two MLAs now and it wants to increase the number. He also said that every community should have a political voice in the system.
AIMIM Eyes Jharkhand Polls
He said,”Our party has sent Aadil Hasan and Riyaz Ul Hassan Effendi to Jharkhand. They will go there and see what we should do and how many seats we should contest or not. Akhtarul Iman will see if we should contest the Bihar bye-election or not.”
Owaisi-Congress Should Introspect
Emphasising the Maharashtra Elections, he said that ex-MP Imtiaz Jaleel wrote to Congress leader Nana Patole and Sharad Pawar of the NCP and made it clear that the AIMIM too did not want the Shinde-Fadvanis government in Maharashtra. Putting the ball in the Congress’s court, the advocate-turned-politician said that now the Congress has to decide. He said further that the AIMIM already had a strong political presence in the state. He also said he had also held parleys with Maratha reservation activist Jarange Patil. Owaisi said that now the Congress and the NCP have to decide. However, he also made it clear that his party was going to contest the polls anyway.
Taking an indirect dig at the grand old party, he said that the Congress should have won the Haryana Election easily, but it couldn’t. Suggesting the party to introspect after the defeat, Asaduddin Owaisi said that he tried in Maharashtra, but the ball is in the court of the Congress now.
