Union Home Minister Amit Shah declared on Saturday that the formation of the government in upcoming Jammu and Kashmir elections will be decided by the people of Jammu. While addressing the first BJP party workers’ meeting following the announcement of Assembly Polls in the UT, Shah emphasized that its up to the people of Jammu to decide the government now.

In his address, Shah also urged the youth of Kashmir to refrain from supporting the National Conference-Congress alliance, warning their vote could potentially bring militancy back.

Amit Shah Attacks Congress-National Conference Alliance

The Union Home Ministercame down heavily on Congress and National Conference on their claims that they will restore statehood. He further alleged that only the Central Government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has the authority to deliver what’s promised.  

He expressed his anger towards the fake promises made by Congress and said, “Stop fooling the people of Jammu and Kashmir.” He also mentioned about BJP’s pledge to grant statehood after the elections in the Parliament. 

BJP’s Previous Proposal For Jammu & Kashmir

The Bharatiya Janata Party had previously proposed that someone from the minority community of Jammu and Kashmir should be appointed as the Chief Minister of the Union Territory. It is noteworthy whether BJP will honour its promise to appoint a minority candidate as Chief Minister of the Union Territory or their commitment will falter after the elections. The much-awaited results will reveal whether voters choose BJP on their pledges or turn to National Conference-Congress Alliance instead.

Amit Shah Slams Rahul Gandhi

Union Home Minister Amit Shah slammed Rahul Gandhi stating, “No matter how hard you try, we will not allow you to interfere with the reservations for Gujjars, Bakarwals, Paharis, and Dalits.”

Jammu & Kashmir will vote in three phases and counting of votes will take place on October 8, 2024.
