Anita Goyal, the wife of Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal, passed away on Thursday morning at a Mumbai hospital after a prolonged battle with cancer. Naresh Goyal, who had recently been granted interim bail, was by his wife’s side as she took her last breath.
The funeral for Anita Goyal is scheduled to take place later today in Mumbai.
On May 3, Naresh Goyal’s lawyer informed the Bombay High Court that the Jet Airways founder had lost the “will to live” while pleading for medical bail. The court reserved its decision on the bail plea and instructed that Goyal should not be discharged from the private hospital where he is receiving treatment until May 6.
In February, a special court denied bail to Naresh Goyal but allowed him to be admitted to a private hospital of his choice to receive medical treatment. Later, he filed a petition with the Bombay High Court seeking interim bail on the basis of merit and release on medical grounds.
