Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced on Wednesday that he has transitioned to a homegrown email platform called ‘Zoho Mail’, which is developed by the Indian SaaS behemoth, Zoho Corporation. Shah shared his new email address on a social media post.
“Hello everyone, I have switched to Zoho Mail. Kindly note the change in my email address. My new email address is amitshah.bjp@zohomail.in. For future correspondence via mail, kindly use this address. Thank you for your kind attention to this matter,” Shah wrote.

Created by Zoho Corporation, a global tech company based in Chennai and co-founded by Sridhar Vembu and Tony Thomas in 1996, Zoho Mail is a secure email platform.

Indian Government Supports Domestic Technology
Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently stated that he will be using Zoho’s office suite software in support of domestic products and services. Vaishnaw posted on X (formerly Twitter) “I am moving to Zoho – our own Swadeshi platform for documents, spreadsheets & presentations”.

Zoho has collaborated with Vaishnaw’s ministry in the past. In September 2023, media reports indicated that the Ministry of Electronics and IT had contracted Zoho to provide email services as well as several other tools for internet-based office work.
This is the first time the government has outsourced internal email services to a private company traditionally employed by the National Informatics Services.
Ulaa, a web browser developed by Zoho, won the MeitY Indian Web Browser Development Challenge, defeating 433 other teams. A month later, Ulaa was named the Official SaaS Partner for MeitY Startup Hub at Startup Mahakumbh 2025.
New Tech Tools from Zoho
Most recently, Zoho launched a new sub-brand called Vani, which has AI-powered “visual workspace collaboration tools.” The company, in an official statement, said Vani is designed with tools such as whiteboards, flow charts, diagrams, mind-mapping, and video-conferencing.
It also rolled out a framework called “Space and Zone” under its new offering, which allows independent teams to work without slowing down workflow but provide seamless collaboration when needed. The platform was also launched with integrated AI that can support users in content creation, structured visuals, and actionable insights from relevant areas.
It offers a library of templates and toolkits for planning, brainstorming, design diagrams and social media creatives that can help you streamline your project workflows. They have also launched this new offering at $5 per month for each user globally and ₹240 in India.
Apart from that, Zoho’s messaging app “Arattai,” which was soft launched in 2021, also came to the forefront of the news cycle, having racked up more than 10 lakh downloads in the past week on Play Store. It is trying to become a “made-in-India” alternative to other chat giants that have taken over the world. It has all the features you would want similar to any modern messenger, including text messaging, and voice/video calling, as well as stories, channels, and media sharing.
Zoho was founded in 1996 by Sridhar Vembu and Tony Thomas. They provide more than 50 integrated online applications and it supports a variety of business processes including sales and marketing and email and collaboration, etc.
