As the Bharatiya Janata Party came into power in Delhi after 27 years on Saturday, the speculation about who will be the next Delhi Chief Minister under BJP rule has begun. The result of the Delhi election came on Saturday, and it was declared that the incumbent BJP secured 48 seats out of 70 in the national capital. The Aam Aadmi Party won 22 seats. The congress failed to secure a single seat.
The AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal, who was fighting from the New Delhi constituency against the former Delhi Chief Minister’s son Parvesh Verma, also lost. It was speculated that Verma might be the Delhi CM, as he is the showstopper in the Delhi election. However, there are many other politicians who are in the race for the Delhi CM post.
According to reports, Ashish Sood and Pawan Sharma, a former state secretary general (organization), are also possible runners for the CM. Ashish Sood, who has administrative experience, was elected from the Janakpuri assembly and won with 68,986 votes. Sood is also BJP’s in-charge for Goa and co-in-charge for Jammu and Kashmir.
On the other hand, Sharma won with 1,03,613 votes from the Uttam Nagar constituency. He is also a top pick for the CM post, reports suggested. There are many other senior leaders in the BJP who can be the Delhi CM. Delhi BJP president Vijendra Gupta and Satish Upadhyay, who won the election with huge margin. Gupta won with 37,000 votes from Rohini and Upadhyay, 39,000 votes from Malviya Nagar.
There are also two faces of women leaders who can be the Delhi CM. Rekha Gupta, who was elected from the Shalimar Bagh constituency, won with 29,000 votes, and Shikha Roy gave a close fight to AAP’s Saurabh Bharadwaj and won with 3,188 votes. According to reports, BJP can also lead towards a woman candidate.
