New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday paid tributes to revolutionary freedom fighter Shyamji Krishna Varma on his birth anniversary.
PM Modi, in a tweet, said: “Tributes to the brave Shyamji Krishna Varma on his Jayanti. This fearless son of Maa Bharti devoted his life to freeing India and furthering a spirit of pride among our people.”

The Prime Minister also shared his speech in which he spoke about the greatness of Shyamji Krishna Varma.
He was a lawyer and journalist who founded the Indian Home Rule Society, India House and The Indian Sociologist in London to promote the cause of Indian nationalism and freedom.
He completed his education in India, before moving on to teach Sanskrit at the Oxford University.
According to several accounts, Varma, who became the first President of Bombay Arya Samaj, was an admirer of Dayanand Saraswati, and he inspired Veer Savarkar who was a member of India House in London.
He also pursued a brief legal career in India and served as the Divan of a number of Indian princely states here. He was born on 4 October 1857 in Mandvi, Gujarat and passed away on March 30, 1930 in Geneva, Switzerland.
