According to Tamil Nadu Congress, Senior Congress leader EVKS Elangovan was hospitalized due to a lung-related issue. For this, he was undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Chennai, as per media reports.

Who Was EVKS Elangovan?
EVKS Elangovan was the leader of the Congress party. He served as the Tamil Nadu Congress Chief. EVKS Elangovan was the son of a Founding member of DMK EVK. Sampath. Later on, Sampath joined Congress. Currently, Elangovan, at the time he passed away, represented the Erode-East constituency. The seat was previously led by his son Everaa E Thirumahan. He got elected to the Tamil Nadu Assembly through the by-election held in 2023.
