Prime Minister Narendra Modi seized the moment to take a dig at Congress following the Income Tax raid that unearthed approximately Rs 350 crore and 3 kg of gold ornaments at MP Dheeraj Sahu’s Odisha residence. He posted a doctored video from the renowned Spanish series, Money Heist, attributing Congress’s prolonged legacy of notorious heists spanning 70 years.

The Income Tax officials, along with CISF personnel, concluded their raids at Congress MP Dhiraj Prasad Sahu’s Balangir premises after a week-long search, covering about 30-34 locations across Odisha, Jharkhand, and West Bengal. The raids, however, continue in Ranchi.
This operation marked a record cash seizure of Rs 351 crore by any agency in India, accompanied by the confiscation of 3 kg of gold jewelry, the highest-ever in a single operation, confirmed officials.
The massive cache seized during the Income-Tax Department’s search in properties connected to Baldeo Sahu and Group of Companies Ltd, linked to Congress Rajya Sabha MP Dhiraj Sahu’s family, totaled over Rs 350 crore. The currency count stretched over five days, concluding on Sunday.
The counted cash was transported in bags for tallying to three SBI branches — Balangir, Sambalpur, and Titlagarh. The Balangir branch alone received 176 bags of cash, requiring additional manpower to process the notes. A senior SBI officer overseeing the Balangir branch operations estimated the total at Rs 305 crore, stating that 25 machines and 50 bank officials worked round the clock to complete the task. The Sambalpur and Titlagarh branches accounted for approximately Rs 37.50 crore and Rs 11 crore, respectively, in the currency count.
