Saif Ali Khan Stabbing Case: After an extensive manhunt, Mumbai Police on Sunday morning arrested a man suspected to be a Bangladeshi national. The prime suspect identified as Mohd Shariful Islam Shehzad has been arrested for allegedly attacking Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan at his Mumbai residence.
Who Is Shariful Islam Shehzad?
Shariful Islam Shehzad is a 31-year-old Bangladeshi National who entered India with a fake name – ‘Vijay Das’. According to Zone 9 DCP Dixit Gedam, the police have preliminary evidence suggesting that the accused is from Bangladesh. The DCP further stated that Islam does not possess valid Indian documents and that a few items seized from him indicate he is a Bangladeshi national.

Accused Set To Appear Before The Court
The accused will appear before the court, the DCP informed. “We will seek police custody,” he added. Moreover, an inquiry under the relevant sections of the Passport Act is also invoked.
Islam came to Mumbai last year, about 5 to 6 months ago, and was suspected to be using multiple aliases. Police found that he stayed temporarily in Mumbai and later in the area close to the city. “He worked in a Housekeeping agency,” the DCP said. Currently, his credentials are being investigated as to whether he has a criminal record.
Background Of The Incident
Actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed multiple times in his Bandra residence in the early hours of Thursday (January 16, 2025). The actor was rushed to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai for treatment after sustaining stab wounds. The actor is safe and is recovering.
