Rohini Acharya is in the news after she accused her father, the RJD patriarch Lalu Prasad Yadav. She severed ties with her family and announced her exit from politics. She also levelled serious allegations against her brother, Tejashwi Yadav, and his aides. According to her, she was abused and had slippers thrown at her by her younger brother at home. She made these allegations against her family and brother in a social media post where she described her ordeal.
“For me, it became a huge sin that I didn’t look after my family, my three children, didn’t take permission from my husband or my in-laws when donating the kidney… I did what I did to save my god, my father, and today it’s been called dirty… May none of you ever make a mistake like mine, may no family ever have a daughter like Rohini,” her post on X read.

Samaresh Singh is the husband of Rohini Acharya, who is Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter. They got married in 2002 in a grand ceremony in Bihar that many people talked about.
Samaresh Singh’s father, Rao Ranvijay Singh was a senior Mumbai-based income-tax official. Acharya and Singh have two sons and a daughter. Initially before moving to Singapore, Acharya and her family lived in the United States.
Samaresh Singh did his bachelor’s in economics at the Delhi University. He took master’s degree from the Delhi School of Economics. He then did his MBA from INSEAD Business School.
He started his career as an IT professional at TCS. Then he worked at key managerial posts at GMR Infrastructure. He had previously held senior positions at Standard Chartered Bank. In 2010, Singh became an Executive Director at Standard Chartered, where he closed 20 major mergers, acquisitions, and capital market deals in countries like Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Malaysia.
After this, Samaresh Singh left Standard Chartered and joined Evancore as a Managing Director. Evancore is a well-known investment banking firm. Currently, Samaresh is the Managing Director of the firm. Following Acharya’s allegations, the BJP hit out at the RJD, stating that Lalu Yadav favoured his son Tejashwi despite receiving a kidney from his daughter.
