The BJP has also given a cabinet berth to cricketer Ravindra Jadeja’s wife, Rivaba Jadeja. She was one of the 26 MLAs elevated to cabinet rank under Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. Jadeja won the 2022 Jamnagar North Assembly constituency in Saurashtra, Gujarat. Her election drew attention because Ravindra Jadeja’s sister, Nayana Jadeja, is in the Congress party. Rivaba, who won the sister-in-law contest, has now become a minister. She is only 34 years old, born on November 2, 1990, and has frequently attended IPL and other cricket matches to cheer on her husband. Ravindra Jadeja actively campaigned for her election. Rivaba Jadeja belongs to the Kshatriya community.
Who is Rivaba Jadeja?
Rivaba joined the BJP in 2019. In the very next election, she became the party’s candidate from Jamnagar North in 2022 and emerged as one of the star candidates of the Gujarat Assembly elections. Ravindra Jadeja also campaigned for her during the polls, and she won the seat with a margin of more than 50,000 votes. Karshanbhai Karmur of the Aam Aadmi Party was her closest competitor, securing 23 percent of the vote share, while Congress candidate Bipendrasinh Chatursinh Jadeja came in third with 15.5 percent.
Her inclusion reflects the party’s effort to balance regional representation while adding new, high-visibility faces to the government.
