Who Is Rekha Gupta? A Complete Profile

Rekha started her political journey with Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad at Daulat Ram College, Delhi University in 1992.  Rekha became President of the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) in 1996-97.

Rekha Gupta has been chosen as the next chief minister of Delhi. She won the assembly polls from the Shalimar Bagh constituency, defeating AAP’s candidate Bandana Kumari by 29, 595 votes.

Rekha started her political journey with Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad at Daulat Ram College, Delhi University in 1992.  Rekha became President of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) in 1996-97.

Rekha Gupta served north Pitampura as a councillor in 2007 where she worked for the improvement of libraries, swimming pools, and parks. Rekha backed female students from economically weaker sections and launched “Sumedha Yojana” to support their higher education.

The saffron party leader also served the organisation as General Secretary of BJP Mahila Morcha in Delhi.

Rekha Gupta was born in 1974 in Nandgarh village of Haryana’s Jind district. Her father was employed with the State Bank Of India as an officer. Later, Rekha Gupta’s family shifted to the national capital and she completed her education in Delhi.

Delhi CM-elect Rekha Gupta thanked PM Modi and tweeted, “I thank the top leadership and legislative party of BJP.”

AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal wrote on X, “Many congratulations to Rekha Gupta ji on becoming the Chief Minister of Delhi. I hope that she will fulfill all the promises made to the people of Delhi. We will support her in every work for the development and welfare of the people of Delhi.”
