Pune Police raided a private apartment on Sunday, busting a ‘drug party’. They seized drugs, hookah sets, and liquor from the premises. Seven individuals, including Pranjal Khewalkar, son-in-law of former Maharashtra minister Eknath Khadse, were arrested in connection with the incident.
The court has remanded all seven accused to police custody until July 29. Pranjal Khewalkar, one of the accused, is married to Rohini Khadse, the state president of the NCP women’s wing under Sharad Pawar’s faction.
Who Is Pranjal Khewalkar?
Pranjal Khewalkar, who is the daughter of former minister Eknath Khadse and husband of NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) women’s wing state president Rohini Khadse, has been detained along with some others. This information was given by a senior police officer.
In his Instagram profile, Khewalkar has described himself as a businessman, social worker and doctor. According to IMDB, he is a multifaceted entrepreneur and producer, who recently released his first music video “Na Hona Tumse Door” under the banner of his production house ‘Summer Productions’.
Apart from this, he is also starting work on OTT platforms and his business interests are also in sectors like sugar, energy and event management.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Nikhil Pingale told in a press conference that the raid was conducted after receiving information about a rave party in a studio apartment located in the prestigious area of Khardi. He said that 2.7 grams of cocaine-like substance, 70 grams of marijuana-like substance, a hookah pot, several hookah flavors and liquor bottles have been seized from the spot.
Reacting on this issue, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis said, “Even I saw it only in the media. I’ve been attending programs since morning, so I haven’t received an actual briefing on it yet. Based on what is being shown in the media, the police have busted a rave party, and some people have been found there. Drugs were reportedly found. Once I receive a proper briefing, I will be able to comment on it. Prima facie, it appears that a crime has taken place at that location…”
