The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded party leader Navya Haridas on Saturday, to contest Kerala’s Wayanad By-polls. This move comes after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi won both Wayanad and Rae Barelli constituencies in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024.
He vacated Wayanad and chose to retain Uttar Pradesh’s Raebarelli seat. Haridas will now be facing Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Congress general secretary.
Who Is Navya Haridas?
Navya Haridas, 39, is a two-time councilor in the Kozhikode Corporation and is currently serving as the general secretary of Mahila Morcha in Kerala.
Haridas holds a B-Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering from KMCT Engineering College. She contested as the BJP candidate for the Kozhikode South constituency in the Kerala Assembly election in 2021 but was defeated by Congress candidate Ahammad Devarkovil.
She has no criminal cases against her according to the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).

Priyanka Gandhi To File Her Nomination Papers
With Rahul Gandhi stepping down from Wayanad, the Congress party has appointed Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to contest from here.
The candidate of the United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala, Priyanka Gandhi will be submitting her nomination papers on Wednesday, October 23, according to reports.

CPI has fielded veteran leader Sathyan Mokeri to contest against Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
Date For By-Election
The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced on Tuesday that voting for the by-election is scheduled to be held on November 13, and results will be declared on November 23, 2024.
