In a shocking incident on Saturday night, former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique was shot dead outside his son, MLA Zeeshan Siddique’s office. Following the murder, the Mumbai police have arrested two suspects who claimed to be affiliated with the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang according to sources. This claim, however, remains unverified by both the police and the Bishnoi Gang.
Who Is Lawrence Bishnoi?
Lawrence Bishnoi, born in 1993 in Punjab, has a criminal background that escalated during his days at university. He spent his early years in Abohar and moved to Chandigarh in 2010 to pursue further studies.
In 2011, he joined the Punjab University Campus Students Council and met gangster Goldy Brar. Together, they became involved in university politics and began engaging in criminal activities.
Lawrence has a list of FIRs for crimes such as attempted murder, assault, liquor dealing, and extortion against him. While he was acquitted in many cases, others remain pending. According to sources, his gang is affiliated with over 700 shooters across India.

His name also came up in connection with other brutal high-profile murders, including the assassination of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala in 2022, and right-wing leader Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi in Jaipur.
Bishnoi is currently lodged at Sabarmati Central Jail in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Is Lawrence Behind The Killing Of Baba Siddique?
Sources within the Mumbai Police Crime Branch said the two suspects arrested have been doing recce in Bandra East for the shooting spot for around a month, according to media reports.
Police are probing two possible angles behind the shooting: one related to the Bishnoi gang and the other related to a slum rehabilitation case.
Bishnoi-Salman Angle
Concerns about the Bishnoi gang rose from Siddique’s close links to Indian Actor Salman Khan. Khan had reportedly received threats from Lawrence Bishnoi. He has been his target due to the 1998 black buck hunting case.
