Actress Kasthuri Shankar arrested by special team of police personnel from Greater Chennai on Saturday. She was booked by police for alleged derogatory remark against the Telugu speaking community.
Telugu association filed a case against her, alleging that she made a divisive comment during a protest on November 3. The actress sparked outrage after making derogatory remark against the origin of certain Telugu speaking communities in Tamil Nadu. This remark was allegedly made by her during a protest on November 3 which talked about Brahmin rights. The protest opposed alleged discrimination against the Hindu.
Greater Chennai Police’s officer confirmed about the arrest of actor Kasthuri . He said that she would be produced in court and will be brought to Chennai after transit remand is obtained.
Her request for relief in Madras high court got rejected. She was hiding after the case was registered against her. A Team Chennai police found her in coordination with Cyberabad police. On November 5 she apologized for her remark.
Police traced her two days after Madras high court declined her anticipatory bail. According to media reports, she was arrested from guest house owned by a film producer in Hyderabad.
