A businessman from Chhattisgarh has filed a serious complaint against DSP Kalpana Verma, alleging that she trapped him in a relationship and took money, jewellery, and valuables worth more than Rs 2 crore. The allegations have sparked major attention in the state, as both sides are presenting very different versions of events.
Who Is DSP Kalpana Verma?
DSP Kalpana Verma is a 2017-batch police officer currently posted in Dantewada. She has served in multiple districts across Chhattisgarh and has also worked with the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS). Verma has often been in the news due to her assignments and public appearances. In the past, she drew attention when a photo of her using her phone during a political delegation’s visit went viral, making her a familiar name online. Despite these earlier controversies, she has maintained a strong presence in the police force.
Businessman Claims He Was Manipulated
The complainant, Raipur businessman Deepak Tandon, has submitted photos, videos, and documents that he says support his allegations. According to him, he met DSP Verma briefly in 2021 through a mutual friend. He claims that after this meeting, Verma began calling him regularly, meeting him frequently, and eventually developed a close personal relationship with him.
Tandon says that during this period, Verma repeatedly demanded money and expensive gifts. He alleges that she took Rs 2 crore in cash, a luxury car, a diamond ring worth around Rs 12 lakh, gold ornaments worth Rs 5 lakh, and a Rs 1 lakh bracelet. He also claims she pressured him to transfer the ownership of a hotel property to her brother.
Tandon has shared WhatsApp chats where conversations relating to money and divorce appear. He alleges that Verma encouraged him to divorce his wife and threatened him when he refused.
DSP Verma Rejects All Allegations
The officer has categorically denied the businessman’s claims. Verma says the WhatsApp chats being circulated are fabricated and part of a conspiracy to malign her. She has stated that her family is already involved in a financial dispute with Tandon’s family, which is currently pending in court. According to her, the complaint is an attempt to influence that legal case.
Investigation Expected
Since the claims involve significant financial transactions, property transfers, and accusations of intimidation, authorities are expected to investigate the matter in detail. With both sides presenting conflicting narratives, the case is likely to draw continued public attention in the coming days.
