Who Is Javed Ahmed Mattoo? The Wanted Mujahideen Terrorist Caught In Delhi

Delhi Police Special Cell captured a wanted Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist in the national capital on Thursday.

Javed Ahmed Matoo, a notorious Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) terrorist with a long history of orchestrating attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, has been a prime target for special forces since 2012. Notably, he was implicated in the infamous killing at Sopore Police Station in Baramulla District in January 2012.

The police recently arrested two suspects linked to a grenade attack on Sopore Police Station that took place on May 19, 2012. Investigations revealed that HM militant Javid Ahmed Matoo, alias Saqib, had handed a hand grenade to Ishfaq Shafi Kana on May 18 at his residence.

The reign of terror continued as Matoo and his group remained active in numerous terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir. Wanted in connection with 11 terror attacks, Matoo held a spot among the top 10 targets in the Valley, carrying a reward of Rs 10 lakh on his head.

Adding to the complex narrative, last year, a viral video featuring Matoo’s brother Raees Matto showcased him hosting the tricolor, creating a stir on social media. On Thursday, special forces arrested him in Delhi.
