Humayn Kabir, a Politician from West Bengal, has been a member of the West Bengal Assembly (MLA) from the Bharatpur constituency since 2021. He was a farmer member of the Tinramool Congress. He served as an MLA at Rejinagar from 2011 until his resignation in the year 2012. He has since founded the Janata Unnayan Party.
Career
In 2015, he was expelled from Tirnamool for six years for engaging in anti-party activities. He contested as an anti-party candidate in the 2016 elections to retain his Rejinagar seat from his predecessor, Rabiul Chowdhury but lost.

He later joined the Bhartiya Janata Party in 2018 and contested from the Murshidabad seat during the 2019 indian general elections but lost to the TMC. After completing six years of expulsion, he rejoined TMC and won as MLA from the Bharatpur seat.

Hymayun Kabir was suspended from the Trinamool Congress after he reportedly proposed the construction of a Babri Masjid in Bengal in December 2025. On 22 December 2025, he launched his own party named Janata Unnayan Party.
Controversies
While campaigning for the 2024 Indian General election, Tirnamool Congress Legislator Humayn Kabir stated that he will toss Hindus into the Bhagirathi river. He said soo ina span of two hours after winning, as muslims constitute 70% of the population of Murshidabad.
Biman Banerjee on Monday
While speaking about Humayan Kabor Biman Banerjee said his membership from the assembly as been terminated. Earlier in the day, Humayan Kabbir floated a New Outfit, Janata Unnayan Party, days after he was suspended by the TMC for laying the foundation stone for a Babri-tyled mosque in Murshidabad District
Kabir and his Mission
Kabir has pledged that his mission is to oust Mamta Banerjee from power in the assembly polls, which will be due in less than six months. He alleged that. "Mamata Banerjee is no longer the same person I knew. She is beyond the reach of the common man."
BJP claims that Kabir was attempting to split the saffron party’s vote
He claimed that the Labor Party was attempting to split the BJP's votes in the assembly polls. "In the wake of the situation in Bangladesh, people of Bengal will thwart Kabir's attempts and elect a strong nationalist force like the BJP, only which can defeat fundamentalists,"
The TMC is yet to comment on Kabir’s new party. Earlier, the TMC had suspended aKabir on December 5 after his announcement to build a Babri Style Mosque, which triggered a massive row.
