Karnataka Housing Minister B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan stirred a controversy on Friday after he declared that he is ready to go to war against Pakistan as a suicide bomber, during a press conference in Hospet. His dramatic statement comes in the wake of the recent Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir that claimed 26 people’s lives, mostly tourists.

While speaking to the media, Khan said, “We are Indians….We are Hindustanis. We have no relation whatsoever with Pakistan. If there is a war, I am ready to go. If I am sent as a minister, I am prepared to go and ready to fight for the country.” He made these statements while brimming with emotions and in a loud and clear voice. Khan further added that Pakistan has always been India’s enemy.

Who Is BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan?

Minister of Housing Department of Karnataka, BZ Zameer Ahmed, is a key Muslim face in the Karnataka Congress. He has served as an MLA five times in Chamrajpet Constituency and has often made headlines in the past for his controversial statements.

While everyone around the Karnataka Housing Minister burst into laughter, Khan asserted that his remarks were not made out of fun and excitement. He said, “If PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah give me weapons, I’m prepared to go to Pakistan with a suicide bomb strapped to me.”

During a press conference in Hospet, he termed the cowardly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir as “barbaric and inhuman”. His aggressive comments against Pakistan come shortly after Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah called for restraint and diplomacy over armed retaliation. In a separate statement, the CM earlier said, “War is not the solution as it will only lead to more deaths on both sides.”
