Heart-wrenching details continue to surface in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. Many expressed grief over the brutal killings as more victims continue to be identified. Among the deceased was a 40-year-old US-based technician named Bitan Adhikari who came over to his home in Kolkata earlier this month, along with wife Sohini and son.
Who Was Bitan Adhikary?
Bitan Adhikary, an Indian who was living in Brandon, Florida, is survived by his 3-year-old son and wife. The government is trying its best to bring them back home. The trio was sitting on the grass at the attack site when suddenly some armed men approached them and opened fire indiscriminately.
Reports revealed that the deceased engineer relocated to the US to work as a Test Manager with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). He had done his Bachelor’s of Technology, Electrical Engineering from the University of Technology in West Bengal. His ancestral home is located in Behala, Kolkata.
CM Mamata Banerjee Speaks To Bitan’s Wife
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee spoke to Bitan Adhikary’s wife over the phone and assured her that the government is working towards it. Condemning the attack, she wrote on X, “3 persons from our State – Bitan Adhikari (of Baishnabghata, Kolkata), Samir Guha (Sakher Bazar, Kolkata), and Manish Ranjan (Jhalda, Purulia)- have died in the most unfortunate Kashmir violence. All arrangements are being put up by our administration at Delhi Airport to help the family members of the victims and their onward journey to Kolkata. Flight is likely to arrive in Kolkata at 8.30 pm today.”
