The INDIA Bloc has nominated former Supreme Court Judge B. Sudarshan Reddy as its Vice Presidential candidate to challenge the NDA’s CP Radhakrishnan. Justice Reddy was appointed as a permanent judge in the Andhra Pradesh High Court on 2 May 1995. After this, he became the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court on 5 December 2005. The peak of his judicial journey came when he was appointed a judge in the Supreme Court of India on 12 January 2007. He retired on 8 July 2011.
Who Is Sudarshan Reddy?
He was born on 8 July 1946 and holds a B.A. and LL.B. degree. He enrolled as a lawyer in Hyderabad with the Bar Council of Andhra Pradesh on 27 December 1971 and mainly practiced writ and civil cases in the Andhra Pradesh High Court. He served as Government Pleader from 1988 to 1990 and briefly worked as Additional Standing Counsel for the Central Government in 1990. He also acted as Legal Adviser and Standing Counsel for Osmania University. On 2 May 1995, he was appointed a permanent judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, and on 5 December 2005, he became Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court. He was elevated to the Supreme Court of India on 12 January 2007 and retired on 8 July 2011. In March 2013, he became the first Lokayukta of Goa but resigned after seven months citing personal reasons.

The NDA has nominated C. P. Radhakrishnan as its candidate for the post of Vice President, who is currently the Governor of Maharashtra and has previously been the Governor of Jharkhand, Telangana and Puducherry. He has been a Lok Sabha MP twice and has also served as the state president of Tamil Nadu BJP. Radhakrishnan, who has more than four decades of experience in politics, has also been associated with the RSS, due to which he has a deep grasp of organisational and ideological understanding.
