Khairagarh Chhuikhadan Gandai: A Naxalite couple carrying a reward of ₹20 lakh surrendered in the Khairagarh Chhuikhadan Gandai district of Chhattisgarh on Wednesday. Dhanush, also known as Munna, is 25, and his wife Roni, also known as Tule, were active in the Maad Division of Bastar. They also worked with the Tanda–Malanjkhand Area Committee, which comes under the Madhya Pradesh–Maharashtra–Chhattisgarh (MMC) Zone. Both were associated with the banned CPI (Maoist) outfit.
Why did the couple surrender?
After surrendering, the couple said they were encouraged by the state government’s new surrender and rehabilitation policy and chose to give up armed resistance. However, they did not say whether there was any pressure from the police or the government in making this decision.
Who are Naxalite Dhanush Munna and his wife Roni?
According to the Chhattisgarh police, the duo were involved in many criminal activities across the state. Additional SP of Khairagarh Chhuikhadan Gandai, Nitesh Kumar Gautam, stated that the Naxalite couple, Dhanush and Roni, were active in various areas and had carried out numerous criminal activities.
Roni worked as a party member, while Dhanush was an expert in Hindi, English typing, and computer operations. According to the police, Dhanush handled technical typing work within the organisation. Both operated in Naxalite activities in the border areas of Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh.
Roni was associated with the MMC Zone in-charge Ramder, a Central Committee member, while Dhanush, an Area Committee Member (ACM)
A reward of Rs 20 lakh was announced on both of them. Roni had been active in the Naxalite organisation since 2017, while Dhanush had been active since 2020.

KCG District, bordering Madhya Pradesh, is located 90 km from Raipur, the Chhattisgarh capital. Dhanush carried a reward of Rs 14 lakh, while Roni had a bounty of Rs 6 lakh.

Twenty-eight active Naxalites, including 19 women, surrendered to the police in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district last week. Among them was Dinesh Pandey, a senior Naxal leader and divisional committee member (DVC) of the CPI (Maoist) Kutul Area Committee, who also decided to leave the movement and rejoin mainstream society, ANI reported. In total, the group carried a reward of ₹89 lakh.
