‘Whiskey Ice Cream’: Excise Department Busts Racket In Hyderabad, Arrests Kingpin, Others

The Excise team seized 23 pieces of whiskey ice cream, totaling 11.5 kg, and has filed case against the accused. Further Investigations are underway.

Hyderabad:  The Hyderabad Excise Department recently cracked down on an ice cream parlour for selling ice cream laced with whiskey. As per ANI reports, several people have been arrested in connection to the racket, the police said on Friday. The raid took place at an Ice Cream Parlour in Jubilee Hills.

Sharath Chandra Reddy who ran the parlour was accused of mixing 60 ml of whiskey per kilogram of ice cream and selling it at inflated prices. The Excise team seized 23 pieces of whiskey ice cream, totaling 11.5 kg, and has filed a case against the accused.

The other convicts, Dayakar Reddy and Shobhan were also nabbed for promoting the whiskey ice cream on Facebook to lure more buyers. Further investigation is ongoing.

Excise Department Busts Another Operation

In another operation, Excise Officials on Thursday seized non-duty paid liquor worth Rs 3.85 lakhs at RTC Cross Roads in Hyderabad.

An accused identified as Gopal Agrawal brought the liquor from Chandigarh and was planning to sell it in Hyderabad at a much higher price. According to the Officials, Agrawal bought the liquor for Rs 1.32 lakh in Chandigarh and intended to sell it for Rs 4 lakh in Hyderabad, aiming to earn huge profit.
