Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that when there is good governance, when there is devotion to public welfare, the word “anti-incumbency” becomes irrelevant, following registering a landslide victory in three states – Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan.

Addressing the media, PM Narendra Modi said, “Efficient governance and dedication to public welfare render the term ‘anti-incumbency’ irrelevant. This reflects the people’s support for good governance, transparency, and robust plans for public welfare. This remarkable public mandate has brought us together at this new parliamentary temple.”

PM Modi urged cooperation from all members for a productive start with constructive debates. Emphasizing the rejection of negativity by the country, he extended an invitation to the opposition to engage positively.

“The process has been undertaken, and rather than venting out their anger from defeat in the assembly elections, they should take lessons and approach the session with positivity,” he emphasized.

PM Modi highlighted the significance of Parliament as the temple of democracy, essential for public aspirations and India’s development.

A BJP sweep across the Hindi heartland during the recent state assembly elections surprised rivals and even some pollsters. The party secured significant mandates in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan, upending predictions of closely contested races.

The election outcomes, particularly the losses in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, dealt a substantial blow to Congress’s 2024 hopes as it lost power across a significant section of the Hindi heartland.

In Rajasthan, the BJP poised to form the government, secured victory in 115 seats, with the Congress trailing at 69. Similarly, in Chhattisgarh, of the 90 assembly constituencies, the BJP secured 54, leaving the Congress with 35 seats.

These results showcased a departure from several pollster predictions, painting a contrasting picture and reaffirming the BJP’s stronghold in these states. The defeats in these key territories have reshaped the political landscape, signifying a shift in power dynamics and influencing future strategies for the Congress party in the coming years.
