Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit India on December 4-5, where he will hold the 23rd bilateral summit with PM Modi. This is his first visit to India since 2022. The visit includes several major agreements, an address to a business forum, and a state banquet. A new chapter in strategic relations is expected.
When will Putin land in India?
President Putin will arrive in New Delhi on the evening of December 4, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host a private dinner in his honour at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg from 7 pm onwards.
Putin will be in Delhi for a two-day visit till December 5 to mark the 25th anniversary of the strategic partnership between India and Russia. This is his first visit to India since Russia’s special military action against Ukraine began in 2022. This will be the 23rd bilateral summit between the two countries, which both sides consider extremely important.
Putin’s schedule on December 5
On December 5th, at 9 a.m., President Putin will be accorded a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan and presented with a tri-service guard of honour. Afterwards, Putin will proceed to Rajghat to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi.
India-Russia Summit at Hyderabad House
At 11 a.m., Prime Minister Modi and President Putin will hold the 23rd India-Russia Summit at Hyderabad House. Important announcements and agreements are expected to be reached at this meeting in several areas, including defence, energy, trade, technology, space, and strategic cooperation. The two leaders will also issue a joint statement following their talks.
At 4 p.m., the two leaders will also address the India-Russia Business Forum, where the focus will be on reinventing bilateral trade. This phase is particularly significant, as India-Russia trade relations have seen record growth in recent years.
At 7 p.m. on December 5th, President Draupadi Murmu will host a state banquet in honour of President Putin. President Putin will return from India late in the evening after a nearly 30-hour stay in India.
