The event was namedTales , and it was to be held from December 25 to December 28 in Goa. The event was linked with the Osho Foundation, and its convenor’s name was Swami Dhyan Sumit, who is associated with the Osho-Ludhiana Meditation Society. The objective of the festival was to present Kamasutra tales, meditation sessions, and wellness activities.
Several organisations objected after it was linked with Christmas. They alleged that Goa was being promoted as a sex tourism destination, after which the police cancelled the event.
The matter was highlighted after the founder of NGO ARZ (Anyay Rahit Zindagi) raised the issue and lodged a complaint with the police. The police took notice of the issue and immediately cancelled the event.
The event was promoted under the banner of the ‘Bhagwan Shri Rajneesh Foundation’, and the post did not mention the venue of the event. The controversy erupted after the event was linked with the Christmas festival.
The Goa Police issued a stern warning and asked the organisers to remove the advertisement from social media. Besides, the police administration issued an alert to all police stations to keep a vigil over upcoming events in their jurisdiction.
Apart from NGOs, several organisations came forward in opposition. North Goa’s Santa Cruz Congress unit termed the event as being against the spirit of a religious festival like Christmas.
