On Tuesday, law enforcement officials retrieved the dismembered body parts from the Noia canal. Mondal has since been arrested and is expected to face charges related to the murder of his wife. The recovery of the body parts served as crucial evidence, further substantiating the heinous crime.

Authorities suspect that the motive behind the brutal murder may be rooted in a property dispute. Family members revealed that Mondal had been pressuring his wife, Saira Banu, 50, to relinquish a piece of land she owned. The tragic consequence of her refusal unfolded in Mondal’s ruthless act.

Neighbours expressed shock and disbelief, emphasizing that Mondal actively participated in the search for his missing wife, displaying no signs of suspicion. Kalam Uddin Sheikh, a neighbor, remarked, “We never imagined he could kill his wife so brutally and then remain calm and behave so normally for a couple of days.”

West Bengal – Ongoing Investigation

While Mondal remains hospitalized, law enforcement authorities are awaiting his full recovery for further interrogation. The retrieved body parts have been sent for postmortem, and DNA samples have been preserved to strengthen the ongoing investigation into this heinous crime.
