West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her shock on Thursday after the tragic death of her close associate, Babla Sarkar, in Malda district. Sarkar, also known as Dulal, was a prominent leader of the Trinamool Congress (TMC).
Police reported that four assailants, riding two motorcycles, approached him from behind and fired four rounds. Sarkar was struck by three bullets, with one hitting his shoulder.

From the beginning of the Trinamool Congress, he (and his wife Chaitali Sarkar) worked hard for the party, and Babla was also elected a councillor.” Banerjee expressed both sadness and disbelief over the brutal attack and reiterated the significant role Babla Sarkar played in the TMC.
