Bolpur (West Bengal): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a close aide of Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Anubrata Mondal at Bolpur in the Birbhum district of West Bengal.
Vishwajyoti Banerjee, the councillor of Ward No. 19 in Bolpur, has been arrested by the CBI. He was detained after the CBI conducted a raid at his home.
It is known that Vishwajyoti is close to Anuvrata, a kind of shadow companion. This time too, he lost his opponent by a wide margin in the by-election. Apart from team work, he stayed at Anuvrata’s house most of the day. He also looked after several aspects of his business.

Naturally, the investigators think that important information can emerge from him on several matters related to the shady business. He has been detained for now.
On Wednesday, CBI entered the village with central forces early in the morning. Initially, the ‘motive’ of this sudden operation was not understood. In other words, there was confusion about whether it was a post-poll violence case or an investigation over a controversial issue.
First, central investigators entered Biswajyoti’s house. Besides Sudeep Roy, again a Trinamool activist close to Councilor Biswajyoti, his house was also searched. Manish Kothari, Chartered Accountant Anuvrata and Bolpur businessman Sujit Dey are being searched.
