Weather Update: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a “yellow” alert in Mumbai for Monday, stating there was a possibility of strong winds and thunderstorms due to cyclone Biparjoy. The alert is for Thane and Palghar as well. (Weather Update)
“The wet weather condition is due to the impact of cyclonic storm Biparjoy in the Arabian sea.
Thunderstorm along with lightening, light to moderate rain and gusty winds with the speed upto 40kmph is likely in Mumbai,” the Met department said in its latest weather forecasts.

The sky condition will remain partly cloudy sky and hot. Humid conditions are very likely to prevail in the city and suburbs, the official added.
The maximum and minimum temperature levels are likely to be around 37 degree Celsius and 29 degree Celsius.
Due to the cyclonic circlation, the sea condition in Mumbai will continue to remain rough along with high tides.
Mumbai on Sunday recorded an intense wet spell from the early hours — an increase in the rain intensity — with several parts of the island city and suburban belt receiving moderate and heavy rain throughout the day. The city has been witnessing sporadic spells of rain, said the IMD.
Very severe cyclonic storm ‘Biparjoy’ is likely to cross Saurashtra and Kachchh around noon on June 15, said India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday.
“Extremely severe cyclonic storm ‘Biparjoy’ is expected to cross Saurashtra and District Kachchh around noon on June 15. People should stay at safe locations on the day it crosses the Gujarat coast,” said IMD Director General, Mrutyunjay Mohapatra. He said that when the cyclonic storm reaches near the coast of Kachchh the wind speed is expected to reach around 125 to 135 kmph.
“This wind speed is a ‘very severe’ cyclone wind speed. Therefore, the height of the tides generated in the oceans will be around 10-14 in height. Fishermen have been given a warning for the next 5 days,” said Mrutyunjay Mohapatra.
