Weather Report: In light of the heavy rainfall forecasts from the Meteorological Department, district officials from across Andhra Pradesh (north coastal) announced the closure of schools on Monday. This would include Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Vizianagaram, and Alluri Sitharama Raju. This measure is resorted to to protect the students from bad weather conditions.
Rain Brings Landslides, Disruptions
Heavy rain pounded Visakhapatnam and its surroundings, resulting in landslides in some areas. The possibility of sliding is looming large over the citizens, particularly those staying on hills. The authorities caution them to be careful.
In Alluri Sitharama Raju district, because of the threat of sliding due to rain, the road leading to Lambasingi village has been closed. The officials are very closely monitoring the situation without any glitches.
Chief Minister Takes Action
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has been operating from the flood-hit Vijayawada to coordinate the relief efforts. He spoke with district officials to review the situation and plan necessary actions. Naidu directed the officials to keep a close vigil on the Eluru reservoir, which is expected to fill up with rainwater.
Safety Measures And Public Alerts
CM has also asked the officials to prepare areas where clean water, food, and medical facilities are available in case of very heavy rains. He has urged that there should not be any loss of life because of a lack of timely information and preparedness. Officials will use drones to check for damage to crops and to deliver supplies.
He also advised public safety measures for the people participating in the Ganesh immersion to prevent any accidents.
Eluru Flood Response
2,000 people from the low-lying areas in the Eluru district were shifted to relief camps. Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan is also supervising the situation, assuring that the people are informed and funds are provided to the affected areas for the relief activities.
North Coastal Andhra Faces Flood Alert
A flood alert was issued in north coastal Andhra following heavy rains on Sunday. The low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal further aggravated it. Low-lying areas were inundated, and some roads leading to remote villages were cut off following river and lake overflowing.
Authorities worked hard to keep everyone safe amidst bad weather conditions and to manage the situation.
