It is reported as many as 500 people, including 200 children, are still unwell due to the consumption of contaminated water. The resident complained about the matter to the Greater Noida Authority, which responded by imposing a fine of Rs 25 lakh on the management. Later, the authority slapped an additional fine on the management for improper garbage disposal in the society. Residents say that their living conditions have still not improved. The cleaning of water tanks is currently underway, and water supply has been disrupted in the flats.

Factors Contributing to Water Contamination

Residents alleged that the underground water tanks had not been cleaned for months, leading to a decline in water quality. They say they took the cleaning matter with the society management, but no action was taken.  Now, residents have not received enough water for their daily use. The society management has assured that the conditions will improve soon but the residents are rejecting their claims.

Flat owners say that water is being supplied through tankers, forcing residents to queue up to collect it. They say struggling for basic amenities like water has become a compulsion for them. Rajesh Kumar, Senior Manager (Water) of Greater Noida Authority, said it is an internal matter of society, residents can approach the authority and lodge a complaint if the situation does not improve.
