Nagpur Fire: 5 Dead After Explosion At Aluminium Foil Manufacturing Unit, 87 Inside During Deadly Blast

The intensity of the fire made it increasingly difficult to enter the affected section of the factory. A thorough probe will be conducted after the blaze is completely controlled and the premises are safe to access.

Nagpur: In a shocking incident, five people were killed after a massive fire broke out in an aluminum foil manufacturing unit in Umred MIDC. Two people succumbed to their wounds in the hospital during treatment due to the powerful blast. Meanwhile, three other individuals who initially went missing were later found dead, SP Nagpur Rural, Harsh Poddar confirmed.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that a total of six people had been injured. Among them, two who were critical were rushed to a nearby hospital. Police Inspector Dhanaji Jalak told ANI, “Six people were injured, and two of them are in critical condition. They have been shifted to Nagpur Government Medical College and Hospital.” The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

While speaking to Nagpur Today, SP Harsh Poddar informed, “The factory is located in Umred taluka of Nagpur. The explosion occurred in the factory’s polished tubing unit. During the incident, 87 people were present inside. Fire brigade teams had arrived at the spot and were actively working to douse the flames.” He further added that the intensity of the fire had made it increasingly difficult to enter the affected section of the factory. A thorough probe will be conducted after the blaze is completely controlled and the premises are safe to access.

Fresh visuals from outside the MMP factory, where 5 people were killed, showed a huge crowd gathered there. The late-night fire incident visuals featured thick black clouds rising as the massive golden-yellow blaze engulfed the factory. Meanwhile, the burning building that was severely damaged in the tragic incident created panic and fear among the locals and passersby.
