A video purportedly showing Sheikh Shahjahan, a Trinamool Congress (TMC) figure in Sandeshkhali, in tears has been shared by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Amit Malviya, who claimed Shahjahan’s status as a TMC poster boy has vanished due to criminal allegations.
Malviya warned of dire consequences for those, like Shahjahan, accused of terrorizing Bengal, suggesting they will face legal consequences with no protection from Mamata Banerjee.

Malviya shared the seven-second clip on ‘X’, the BJP IT cell chief, with the caption, “Swag of Mamata Banerjee’s poster boy, rapist has disappeared.” He further added, “This is the fate that awaits the likes of Saokat Mollah, Jehangir Khan and others, who have unleashed a reign of terror across Bengal. No one will come to save them when the law catches up. Not Mamata Banerjee for sure. She couldn’t even save her ministers. The clock is ticking.”
Shahjahan, accused of sexual assault and land grab, was arrested earlier this year, fueling political debates during the Lok Sabha election season.
Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury criticized Banerjee, claiming the CID, under her, favors Shahjahan. He questioned if the CID, which he likened to a slave, would dare to confront its master.
Meanwhile, the BJP has nominated Rekha Patra, a protester against alleged atrocities in Sandeshkhali, for Basirhat Lok Sabha constituency.
During his visit to Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized Banerjee, highlighting the BJP’s commitment to women’s empowerment and promising punishment for Sandeshkhali culprits, attributing their actions to TMC misrule.
Modi stated the focus of the saffron party is on the women empowerment. However, the entire country saw that the TMC is more focused on saving the culprits of the Sandeshkhali incident.

He thundered that the culprits of Sandeshkhali incident will have to spend their rest of the lives in jail.
The Sandeshkhali incident and Shahjahan’s arrest have become significant talking points during the Lok Sabha election season, providing ammunition to Mamata Banerjee’s political rivals.
