The ritual of Surya tilak, where the Sun symbolically marks the forehead of Ram Lalla (the infant Lord Ram), was conducted successfully at the site of Ram mandir in Ayodhya. During the trial, Surya applied tilak on the deity’s forehead using a mirror, specifically at 12:00 noon, and it was carried out in the presence of scientists.

After Prime Minister Narendra Modi consecrated Ram Lalla at the Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22, 2024, large numbers of devotees from all over the country have been gathering daily at the temple site. This momentous occasion signifies the culmination of nearly 500 years of anticipation for the construction of the grand temple at the birthplace of Lord Ram.

This year, the upcoming festival of Ram Navami, observed on the ninth day of the Chaitra month’s Shukla Paksha, carries exceptional importance with the presence of Lord Ram in the newly built temple. A magnificent celebration is expected at the Ayodhya Ram Mandir to mark this auspicious occasion.

Surya Tilak on Ram Navami

The successful testing of Surya Abhishek has intensified the anticipation and spiritual significance of the upcoming event, captivating the attention and stirring the emotions of devotees across the country.

Prior to the tilak ceremony, the redirection of the sun’s rays in multiple directions will take place using three distinct mirrors. These rays will then be channeled through a brass pipe and directed onto the head of Ramallah via a lens.

The Ram Mandir Teerth Kshetra Trust is making special preparations for this year’s Ram Navami, which holds particular significance as the first celebration following the idol consecration of Ramlala in Ayodhya.

A unique and sacred event of Surya Tilak is scheduled for Ram Navami, with arrangements for a live telecast by Prasar Bharati and the installation of LED screens at over a hundred locations in Ayodhya to enable people to witness the event.
