On May 23, in celebration of the ‘Mutharaiyar Sathaya Vizha’ or the birth anniversary of Perumbidugu Muthuraiyar, numerous young members of the community honored his memory by garlanding his statue in Trichy. They also participated in a motorbike procession.
Despite police restrictions, locals reported that many youngsters performed bike stunts and engaged in over-speeding on the roads.

This incident occurred a week after a video went viral on social media showing a man dangerously riding a bike with a woman on his lap on a flyover in Bengaluru. The police tracked down the duo after taking note of the viral video.
In the undated clip, the woman is seen sitting sideways on the biker’s lap with her hands wrapped around his neck. The incident reportedly occurred on the Hebbal flyover in north Bengaluru.
