Pune: In a deeply unsettling incident that has sent shockwaves through Pune’s Chikhali area, a 24-year-old man has been arrested for repeatedly sexually assaulting a buffalo calf. This horrifying act came to light after a concerned citizen filed an FIR (First Information Report) alleging the repeated abuse of his buffalo calf by an individual. The incidents in question occurred between August 18 and October 2 in the Jadhavwadi locality of Chikali, Pune.
Owner discovers disturbing scene
The distressed calf’s owner made the gruesome discovery when he found his animal with its legs tied and immediately sought medical attention. The swift action of the calf’s owner led to the apprehension of the accused, identified as Ramkishan Chauhan, originally from Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh, but currently residing in the Chikhali area of Pune district.
Legal actions taken
Local residents provided crucial evidence leading to the arrest of the accused. An FIR has been registered against Ramkishan Chauhan under Section 377, which deals with unnatural sexual offenses, as well as other pertinent provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Cruelty Against Animals Act.

Accused attempts to cover his tracks
In response to this horrifying incident, the victim’s family took preventive measures by installing CCTV cameras in the shelter and securing the premises. Despite their efforts to protect their buffalo calf, they noticed the shelter’s lights mysteriously turned off once more. Rushing to the scene, they discovered the distressed animal. Reviewing the CCTV footage, the family was confronted with the deeply disturbing sight of a man sexually assaulting the buffalo calf.
The accused, in an attempt to evade justice, had damaged and confiscated the CCTV equipment. However, his actions were in vain as the recorded footage had already been secured by the family.
This shocking incident serves as a grim reminder of the importance of vigilance and prompt action in the face of such heinous acts. The law has taken swift action, and justice will be sought for the innocent victim in this case.
